Concordia Middle School celebrates 50th anniversary
ALEA partner school, Concordia Middle School (CMS), celebrated a special milestone during the month of April. Special events and activities, in particular during the week leading up to Easter, were held to commemorate the founding of the school 50 years.
Began with the intention of providing quality education focusing on English skills with a goal of sharing the Gospel, LCMS missionaries collaborated with Taiwanese educators and administrators to purchase small plots of farmland to build a small campus in the middle of Taiwan.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary, the school welcomed back Rev. Bob and Mrs. Shirley Zimmer, Dr. Merle and Mrs. Dorothy Golnick (photo on right), and Rev. Ed and Mrs. Bertram, all individuals special to the school and critical to the early development and reputation of the school.
Special activities during the week included CMS raising awareness of its ministry and outreach programs that go beyond the school into the community, such as through a lunchbox program, and into the world, as through supporting a ministry which provides shoes, school supplies, and education opportunities for rural villages in Kenya. School alumni and former faculty attended a special Easter chapel that included a choral presentation of the Easter story, greetings from special guests, and a short ceremony which recognized the various ministries that make up part of the vibrant CMS community.
