Learn how art and creative projects can promote verbal expression in the classroom. Students can be empowered to communicate with confidence through the medium of art. Ideas and projects will be presented that can be adapted for any age and any level of language ability. This workshop will include hands-on activities and models that everyone can replicate—no special talents are needed. This workshop will be geared to meet participants’ educational setting.
About Gretchen…
Gretchen Weesner Aguilar is from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and has a B.A. in Elementary Education with an art certification for grades K-8 from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, and an M.A. in Reading from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. She began her teaching career in 1996 in Japan, where she taught English to students ranging from preschool to university. Gretchen received her certification teaching ESL (CELTA) from Cambridge College in Barcelona, Spain. She taught in Texas for four years before joining Concordia in 2007, where she now teaches art in the elementary school.
