Dengue Fever awareness campaign in India
When students and teachers at Concordia High School in Barugur, Tamil Nadu, India learned of the increase of dengue fever cases, they took it upon themselves to educate the community. Working with the “Concordia Community Welfare Centre” the team initiated fogging operations and anti-larval measures to prevent the spread of the outbreak. Each day, a team of 10 students and one teacher visited homes in the area to clean water tanks, and educate community members about waterborne diseases. The students also processed along the road to create awareness about dengue fever, distributed medicine and arranged a public meeting. The team also invited a district medical officer to give a talk and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever. Around 1,000 persons were benefitted by this awareness program.
