English Programs offered at CUNE
High Schools students and new graduates can gain academic language skills through Concordia University Nebraska’s Summer English Programs and Intensive English Program (IEP). Instruction focused on the four skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, with added vocabulary and grammar lessons. American culture, classroom, and academic expectations are also included.
Students will also have cultural opportunities where they will benefit from English language immersion. Weekend excursions and local cultural activities will provide excellent contexts for using English, such as attending movies, visiting county fairs and state parks, going shopping, and additional recreational activities.

“When I first arrived at school in America, it was so difficult for me to understand what the teacher said in class. It made me feel so nervous and tired. After I came back from the Summer English Program at Concordia University, Nebraska, a lot of my high school teachers and my friends said my English was much better, and my grades were much better.” Reflection by Laura, a Summer English Program participant.
