Japan Lutheran College study tour in Chicago
Eight students and two professors from Japan Lutheran College enjoyed a rewarding study tour hosted by Concordia University Chicago from March 11 to 19. The group, comprising social work, psychology, and Christian studies undergraduates, visited Chicago area institutions and agencies ranging from support for the elderly to centers for clients with mental health issues, group homes, and mental clinics.
They also attended classes and met with students in the CUC counseling program. Highlights included firsthand participation in activities and interaction with clients. It was not a case of “all work and no play”–the students were treated to a Windy City Bulls basketball game and a round or two of shopping!
This was the second study tour hosted by CUC for JLC, a direct result of ALEA’s success in linking Asian Lutheran schools with the Concordia system. Both schools are exploring ways for future academic cooperation.
