New facility for Urawa Lutheran School in Japan
A service of Thanksgiving and Blessing was held on December 3rd. About 100 people including representatives from the NRK, Urawa Lutheran School (ULS), the architectural firms and construction company gathered in the new chapel for the service. President Shimizu blessed the new building and offered a prayer of thanks for the Lord bringing us to this day. It has been a dream for many years that the school would have a chapel to gather in for worship. Seeing that dream realized is something special.
A special surprise occurred when the some of the construction workers asked to sing for us. They had practiced Silent Night and a popular Japanese song. The attendees were surprised and honored to have them share their musical talents.
ULS is currently moving to the new location. The teachers, staff and movers are hard at work.
On December 24th and 25th the students of the school will had their first chance to see the new school and worship for the first time in the new chapel as a celebration of Christmas. It was a wonderful Christmas present!
The next term will begin in January at the new school building. The students, teachers and parents are looking forward to getting settled in the new building. At the end of January there will be a special open school visitation day for the parents.
On April 25th a public Dedication and Celebration Service will be held to mark the start of the 1st new school year in this building.
